These years are crucial for Banana Films. We have developed, produced and released in 2007 Goodbye Bafana our first big International project in English directed by Academy Awards winner director Bille AUGUST.
Our mission is to give a writer and a director the opportunity to come together around a subject. It is the personality of the former and the talent of the latter that will bring life to the theme, far from the formatted images our consumer society cherishes so much.
The real ambition with the feature films we are developing is to meet the public. We spent the last 5 years selecting the best potential projects and starting to develop them; keeping this final goal in mind.
We are supported by MEDIA for the development of these projects and we now have a slate of 8 projects at various stage of development. Three International films are going on production in early 2009.
We are also involved with the co-production of 2 or 3 international productions per years, thanks to the Belgian tax-shelter system.
