How to Apply

Guidelines for Applicants

We are looking for strong stories and deep emotions; individual voices and uncompromising visions; bold films which will have the ability to reach, and move an audience.

We are looking for a high professional standard and high motivation from participants, who must be prepared to work in a multilingual setting and to exchange ideas, experiences and aspirations with colleagues from very varied backgrounds.

Applicants can be writers, writer/directors, or producers working with a writer. The writer/director should be able to show at least one completed short film and a full-length feature script. Preference will be given to projects with a producer attached. In exceptional cases, promising projects may be introduced to appropriate producers.

Consideration will be given to

  • the strength of the project
  • the promise of the applicant
  • the consideration of talent otherwise excluded
  • the possible routes to overcome that exclusion
  • mixed teams will be actively encouraged
  • no preference shown in terms of content and theme
  • the cultural diversity of each country recognized
  • no presumption in favour of or against assimilation

There is no registration fee for projects.

The participation fee for the script development programme will be Euros 500 per person. This will include tuition and materials; overnight accommodation with breakfast; tea, coffee and lunches; other occasional meals, plus events as agreed with the programme in the offer letter. Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own flight/rail transport and for local transport costs. Scholarships towards the cost of intercontinental flights are available on request.
